Reg`s impact and influence on our community and all Canadians has been significant and real. My prayers are with Karen, Sara, Mathew and Christina as they go through this difficult time. I worked with and for Reg since 1988. Reg loved his family and cared about people in general, he helped me through difficult times and he always made himself available to talk. My life was blessed by knowing Reg and I like so many others will miss him. Rest in Peace Reg |

I had the privilege of meeting Reg many years ago. I have always followed his career with great interest and he restored my faith in politicians as Reg was a man with passion and great cause. In recent years I had the opportunity of working with his wife Karen and was shocked as all of us were to hear that Reg had passed away. Here was a man that really did make a difference. It is a loss we will all feel. Karen and family – please know my thoughts and prayers are with you. |

Reg came to help on my campaign when I ran in the 2000 Federal Election in Calgary Centre. That started many enthusiastic conversations about online campaigning and our precious electronic toys. Tech geeks gone wild! |

Karen, It has been many years since our young Liberal days. However, we are still too young to be faced with the passing of a spouse. I was shocked and saddened to learn or Reg’s passing and know it must be very difficult for you and your family. Reg, was truly a presence in all respects – physically imposing, mentally acute, socially engaging, politically transformative and no doubt, simply the best parent and parent. You are in my thoughts and prayers. David |

Reg had a charm and charisma that brought a great deal of life and energy to our School. When he first started, he took the time to meet many faculty members. He listened to our ideas and he enthusiastically supported many of those ideas. He always had a moment to stop by and say hello. He was just a joy to have around. I will miss him. |

I met Reg my first year in Winnipeg — 14 years ago. He was bigger than life and a true and keen intellectual and servant of the people. Later, when he came to the Asper School, he cut through red tape to help the school move forward. He taught to try to give back to others so perhaps they could gain from his insights. And his laugh was infectious. Reg and I struggled with health issues and shared stories of how we were fighting for fitness. He never lost sight of that as primary goal. Reg was always on the move — always restless to get on to the next thing to focus on. Now I know he is at peace. God bless you, Reg, and give you well-deserved peace. |

I will always remember Reg’s infectious laugh and his boisterous “hello” when he greeted me. He was a fine colleague and I am very lucky to have been associated with him at the Asper School. |

I first met Reg when I decided to run for liberal nomination when Sharon Carstairs was provincial leader. He was held in such high esteem and was a role model for a politician. I have followed his career ever since and admired his strength of conviction. I am sad to see him pass on at such a young age. barb bowes |

Reg’s life is one to celebrate for a long time to come. Everything he did was intended to make a difference, not only for our country and the world, but for those around him. I had the good fortune of spending some one-on-one time with Reg over the years and there is so much to tell. I recall introducing Reg in Gimli a few years ago, and when I was done, he said, “…., your intro is longer than my speech.” My response was, “If you’d quit doing so much, I wouldn’t have to say so much about you.” He just grinned and made one heck of a presentation. I recall a pretty down to earth discussion we had one night after I drove him home from a function we had attended. He made the point that no matter what position you hold or with whom you rub shoulders, what matters the most to him were his wife and kids, and all the people around him who genuinely care. He lamented that the most difficult thing about being a Cabinet Minister is the amount of time he spent away from his family. And then he said, “At least your introduction tonight was shorter than my speech,” with a deep laughter. Thanks for everything,Reg. Thanks for being, just Reg. Rest in Peace, my friend. My family and I will always miss you and remember you fondly. Our thoughts and love are with Karen and the kids. |

I remember Reg from 1977 when I first met him at Campbell House. He,Lloyd Axworthy and Charlie Huband persuaded me to run in the election. He was a forceful personality, at times gruff but had a warm heart. |
